SAVILANKA’S RESOLVE TO THE NET ZERO CARBON TRANSITION
A 2018 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report outlined the need to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030 from 2010 levels and achieve net zero emissions by 2050 in order for the planet to stay within a 1.5°C increase in global heating. This requires energy to be almost completely de-carbonised. It is time for us all to act to address the climate breakdown. This is why we have committed to have net zero carbon operations by 2030, to lead the transition to a zero carbon energy system and to call for greater action on the climate crisis.

We are all concerned about the climate crisis but it is currently hard for people to know how to take impactful actions to address the challenge. At Savilanka we want to work towards zero carbon living by giving people a tangible understanding of their carbon footprint and clear ways to reduce it, using our technology to drive progress. Our people and our customers are at the center of everything we do: we want them to feel inspired by our purpose and our ambitions, we want them to share in our values and we want them to trust us to support them in progressing to zero carbon living.

OUR MODE OF OPERATION
Savilanka’s Plan sets out a new direction of travel and is the first step on our journey to formalize our work on sustainability. In order to develop this Plan, we carried out a thorough assessment to identify and prioritize topics that are important to Savilanka and its community. This involved tracking trends, engaging with internal and external stakeholders and mapping our strategy against external global standards such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We have put in place an internal and external governance structure to ensure that we make good progress on our targets, that we are accountable and transparent, and that we continue to address the most material social and environmental issues for our business. We plan to report annually on our progress against the Plan Zero targets and other relevant KPIs to ensure that we are being open, transparent and held accountable for our work.
